RII:GPC, 70-1201/79-7 Gentlemen:

During the course of the referenced inspection conducted on June 19-22, 1979, one deficiency was noted as described below:

Deficiency As required by 10 CFR 71.5 and 49 CFR 172.403(c) a radioactive yellow II label must be affixed to each package measuring more than 0.5 millirem per hour but not more than 50 millirem per hour at the external surface of the package.

Contrary to the above, on May 17, 1979, a shipment of UO, pellets ir a BU-7 container measuring 0.7 millirem per hour was shipped using a radioactive whit e-I label.

Response

Subsequent to the inspection, Health-Safety personnel have been further trained in the areas of container marking and labeling.

In addition, shipping records will be periodically reviewed during internal audits.

Full compliance has been achieved as of the date of this letter.

No material of a proprietary nature is discussed in the report.
