The Special Nuclear Material License, SNM-1716, for Sequoyah Nuclear Plant unit 1 will expire August 31, 1979.

An extension t,SNM-1716 is necessary because of the construction delays indicated in J.

E.

Gilleland's June 28, 1979, letter to S. A. Varga which requested a construction permit ex*ension.

Therefore, we hereby request that the Special Nuclear Material License, SNM-1716, be extended to January 1, 1980.
