Robert Rice of your company, we request that Metropolitan Edison participate in a vital area analysis of Three Mile Island Nuclear Station (TMI), Unit.s Nos.1 and 2, as part of the 10 '.FR 73.55 implementation. Toward that end and to accomodate the inter est in this matter by the Presidential Comission on the T'll Incident, we have scheduled a site visit to TMI starting with the week of July 30 and ending August 10, 1979, for the purpose of ootaining infomation necessary for the analysis of the vital areas e," that site.

Dear Mr. Herbein:

As discussed with Mr. Robert Rice of your company, we request that Metropolitan Edison participate in a vital area analysis of Three Mile Island Nuclear Station (TMI), Units Nos.1 and 2, as part of the 10 CFR 73.55 implementation. Toward that end and to accommodate the interest in this matter by the Presidential Comission on the TMI Incident, we have scheduled a site visit to TMI stakting with the week of July 30 and ending August 10, 1979, for the purpose of obtaining information necessary for the analysis of the vital areas at that site.

Representing the NRC staff for the visit will be three members of the Los Alanios Scientific Laboratory (LASL) staff and one member of Science Applications, Inc. (SAI). They are:
