RESPONSE TO TMI-2 ACCIDENT The purpose of this memorandum is to provide you with a brief description 7f ray activities in response to the Three Mile Island accident.
Date Description of Activities 3/28/79 Calculation of break Recomended method to calculate break fivw was sent to Incident Response Center.
3/29/79 Worked on interpretation of core outlet thermo-to couple readings. This activity included running 3/ 31/79 the core thennal hydraulic computer code, COBRA.
4/1/79 Worked on calculation of the size of the hydrogen to bubble in the reactor coolant system as well as 4/3/79 methods for safe removal of i.
4/3/79 Worked on calculation of the cuidition of the Tiik-2 to core. This involved thermal hydraulic calculation 5/1/79 as well as coordination of efforts in this area by the national labora'.ories. Also worked on calculation of the acceptabili+,y of natural circulation cooling (results of this r.ffort are published in NUREG-0557).
5/1/79 Worked on long term cooling with natural circulation to Sper.t 4 days at the TMI site working on the emergency 6/1/79 procedure for the Loss of Natural Circulation (EP-34).
Continued calculations of long term cooling including predictions of the eventual end of natural circulation.
