4 ENCLOSURE SEQUOYAH NUCLEAR PLANT FINAL RESPONSE OIP BULLETIN 79-03 DATED MARCH 12, 1979 1
LONGITUDINAL WELD DEFECTS IN ASME SA-312 TYPE 304 STAINLESS SThL PIPE SPOOLS MANUFACTURED BY YOUNGSTOWN WELDING AND ENGINEERING CCMPAV, i (YWEC)
'A's investigatich of this bulletin has demonstrated that no ASME SA stainless steel piping manufactured by %TC has been received at Sequoyah Nucle.tr Plant for use in safety-related systems. TVA's investigation consisted of obtaining from WTC a listing of heat numbers for all ASME SA stainless steel piping ever manufactured by %TC. TVA then performed a cross check of this listing against TVA procured material and found that no material on the listing was procured for use on Sequoyah Nuclear Plant safety systems. TVA also checked Westinghouse supplied piping and found that the final Westinghouse supplied material was shipped before the time WTC began manuf acturing ASME SA material.
As previously stated in our May 14, 1979, letter from J. E. Gilleland to J. P. O'Re'lly, the final response for Watts Bar, Bellefonte, Hartsville, Phipps Bend, and Yellow Creek Nuclear Plants will be transmitted to NRC cn or before July 13, 1979.
