Gentlemen:

By letter from your Mr. Denton to our Mr. Cavanaugh, dated May 31, D79, we were requested to provide you with our schedule for completion of the long-term modifications described in Section II of the May 17,1979 Order.

In accordance with that request, the following is provided:

Item la We will provide a vital AC power supply to the motor driven emergency feed-water (EFW) pump no later than October 31, 1975.

An auto start feature will be incorporated ao part of this modification.

This c;dification will be accomplished during the month of October,1979, unless procure-ment of equipment and completion of engineeririg will support an earlier date.

We expect completion of engineering and procurement of equipmrat by September 1, 1979.

Development of the Auxiliary (Emergency) reedwater Control System ( AFWCS) is being actively pursued at this time.

Our current schedule expects finalization of a generic concept on or before Octcber 31, 1979.

Provided we receive your approval of the generic concept within two (2) weeks of submittal and procurement of equipment takes no longer than fourteen (14) months from date of order, we will incorporate this modification during our next refueling outage.

Item 1b The EFW suction piping moc 'ication to improve systed separa c on is under investigation / review.

WE pect completion of engineering and procurement of materials by August 1,1979.

The modification to provide control roora annunciation for auto start condi-tions of the EFW system was completed by May 31, 1979.

This design change was submitted to you in a letter dated May 11, 1979.

I terr ld Equipment for addition of a redundant pressure switch to the EFW pump suction and a redundant low pressuie annunciation in the control room is being evaluated.

Procurement of equipment will follow our evaluation and acccmplishment will be in accordance with the schedule delineated in Sec-tion II of the May 17 Order.

Item 2 The failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA) of the Integrated Control System (ICS) will be submitted to you by B&W during mid-July, 1979.

Itea 3 The prooosed design of the safety-grade anticipatory reactor trios en Ioss of main feedwater and/or turbine trip was submitted to you by letter dated Fay 21, 1979.

We are awaiting approval by your staff of the design before we begin procurerent of (quipment. We will implement this modification in accordance with the schedule delineated in the May 17 Order provided timely approval of our proposed design is obtained.

Item 4 Operator training and drilling of response procedures las been and will continue to be part of our training program.

Training schedules of our operators will reflect lessons learned from the TMI-2 incident.
