Gentlemen:

Thank you for your letter of June 12, 1979 in response to our letters of

April 4 and flay 22, 1979.

It is noted that your statement of intent does allow

for the use of non-Class lE test equipment. This is not fully consistent with

our original position; however, we agree that there are some instances in which

the use of non-Class lE test equipment is acceptable and that the involved

components may be considered operable during such testing. We have no further

questions at this tirt.=; however, it is pointed out that the restrictions on the

use of test equipment are subject to further clarification by the flRC. We will

review your corrective action during a future inspection.

'

Sincerely,

.
