Dear Mr. Grier:
Subject:
Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station Docket No. 50-219 IE Bulletin 79-14 and 79-14, Rev. 1 This letter is in response to I G E Bulletin 79-14 and 79-14, Rev. 1 entitled " Seismic Analysis for As-Built Safety Related Piping." In accordance with Item 1 of I 4 E Bulletin 79-14 and 79-14, Rev.1 an inspection program has been initiated on safety related systems within the criteria specified in the bulletin.
This program consists of verifyinh, by physical observation, the existing installation for conformance to the scismic analysis input information set forth in design documents since at the time Oyster Creek was constructed, seismic category 1 requirements did not exist.
Our response to I.E.Bulletin 79-07 lists the safety related systems of concern and also provides a summary of the methods used in the seismic analyses. Also, since the Oyster Creek facility is involved in the Systematic Evaluation Program (SEP), we have submitted detailed information to the NRC seismic review group.
This information was submitted to the NRC on July 9,1979.
These submittals provide the information requested in item 1 of the subject I6 E Bulletin.
In regard to Item 2 of the bulletin, a report of the inspection results on the accessabic portions of the systems involved will be submitted to your office by September 1, 1979.
In regard to Item 3 of the bulletin, although at this time there is no scheduledshutdown of the Oyster Creek facility prior to November 1,1979, we intend to meet the requirements of the bulletin.
Should you have any questions concerning the above, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Very truly yours M1 #.
x, J1f.
