LICENSE NUMBER CPPR-96 DOCKET NUMBER 50-363 I&E BULLETIN 79-03 This letter is in response to I&E Bulletin 79-0 concerning weld defects in 304 or 312 stal
..c st eel pipe apool s manu f ac tured by Youngstown Welding and Engineering Company.
A review of our records indicate that stainless steel welded pipe spools oinufactured by Youngstown dolding and Engineering r~mpany were used for containment penetrations M-43 and M-44.
The spools, ahich were used for the containment sump suction lines, are 24 inch in diareter and 3/8 inch wall thickness, designed for
'00 psig/250 F.
Defects were discovered in the subject spools as a rcsult of CA inspections performed before the spools were placed.
As a rm ult of the discovery of these defects, the welds were 1001 radiographed and all identi.fied defects ee re rer:ov ed and rcs aired by zelding.
Seal welled piping is not now planned for future use at
