Dear Mr. Simril:
Enclosed is a copy of the Dam Safety Inspection Report prepared by the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). This report contains the results of an inspection conducted on May 16, 2019, of the Standby Nuclear Service Water Pond (SNSWP) dam at the Catawba Nuclear Station, Units 1 and 2 (Catawba).
Based on observations made during field inspection, review of data submitted by the owner, and discussions with the NRC staff and licensee representatives, FERC found that the Catawba SNSWP Dam embankment and appurtenances were in satisfactory condition and adequately maintained for service, stability, and longevity.
The information in the enclosed report is considered Critical Energy Infrastructure Information (CEII). Thus, the Enclosure is considered official use only and is being withheld from public disclosure.
The enclosure transmitted with here contains Critical Energy Infrastructure Information. When separated from the enclosure, this transmittal document is DECONTROLLED.
