Dear Mr. O'Reilly:
his facsimile confirms the verbal conversation between Mr. J. M. Brown and Mr. J. E. Ouzts of your office on July 2, 1979.
During reanalyses of Brunsvick Unit No. 2 safety-related piping syste=s resulting from the requirements of IE Bulletin 79-07, it was determined thrt two snubber support beams in the RHR steam condensing lines did not have the necessary capability to carry calculated loads under worst case seismic conditions.
Since this did not meet FSAR commitments, Carolina Power & Light Company decided to replace the beams before exceeding 113 psig reactor pressure.
Mditionally, physical inspection of pipe cupports of safety-related piping syste=s in the Unit No. 2 drywell revealed that a p.pe guide on a level instrument reference leg was missing.
his gufde vill be installed prior to startup of Unit No. 2.
Corrective actions are in progress at this titte.
A Licensee Event Report (sequential report number 52) vill be submitted as reqaired by Technical Specification 6.9.1.8.1 within 14 days providing further information on this subject.
