IE Eulletin No. 79-14 Pevision 1 Date: July 18, 1979 Page 2 of 3 Actica to be taken by Licensees and Permit Holders:
All power reactor facility licensees and construction permit holders are requested to verif7, unless verified to an equivalent degree within the last 12 ::sths, that the seismic analysis applies to the actual configura-tion of safety-related piping systems.
The safety-related piping includes Seismic Category I systecs as defined by Regulatory Guide 1.29, " Seismic Design Classification," Revisica 1, dated August 1,1973 or as defined in the applicable FSAR.
The action items th+t follow apply to all safetv-related pip'n; 2-1/2-inches in diameter and greater and to seismic Categcry I piping, regsrdless of size "hien was dynamically analized by eccouter.
For older plants, wcere Seiscic Category I requirements did not exi.t at the tiae of licensing, it must be shown that the actual configuratica of fd/// safety-related systems, 2tilizing piping 2-1/2 inches in diameter and greater, neets design require-cents.
Specifically, each licensee is requested to:
1.
Idertify inspection elements to be u;ed in verifying that the ;eismic analysis input inf arcation conforms to the actual configuratica of safety-related systems. Fot each safety-related systan, submit a list of design cocuments, including title, identification number, revision, and date, which were sources of input information for the seismic analyses. Also submit a description of the seismic analy;is input information which is contained in each document.
Identify systems or portions of systems which are pla-aad *o be inspe :ted during eacu sequential inspection identified in Items 2 and 3.
Submit all of this information within 30 days of the date of this bulletiu.
2.
Fcr portions of systens which are normally accessible *, inspect one system in each set o' -~""dact systems and al'_ nauredundant systers for
- n-formance to the seismic analysis input inf araation set f:rth in design documents, Include in the inspection: pipe run gecretry, support and restraint deriga, locations, function and clearance (including ficar and wall pecetration); ected ents (excluding these covered in IE Eulletin 79-02); pipe attachments and valve and valve operator locations acd weights (excluding those covered in IE Bulletin 79-04).
Within 60 days of the date of this bulletin, sutait a descriptian of the results of this inspection.
Where nonconf ormances are found which affect cperability of any system, the licensee will expedite cocpletion of the inspectica described in Ites 3 E:cr=211, accessible refers to those areas of the plant which can te entered during reretor operation.
