Your letter of April 25, 1979, notifies the Cornission that the spare uultiport diffuser that had been planrad for the original 4-unit Vogtle fluclear Plant will not be installed.

Deletion of the spare diffuser is not expected to resu't in any adverse environnentai impact.
You are reminded of your coamitment (Tr.155) to nodify the size of the diffuser ports to reduce the volume of water within the S*F isotherm.1 On the basis of a 2-unit plant, we believe that the volume of water 3
enclosed by the S*F isotherm should be significantly less than 2400 ft.
Please advise us of your plans for optimization of the redesigned diffuser dispersion characteristics, including diffuser design and 5"F isothem characteristics.
