- 50-596 (New I!aven) and #50-597 (Stuyvesant).
The Ulster County Environrental Managerent Council is an advisory body to the Ulster County Legislature and the Ulster County Planning Board iri environrental matters. It concerns itself with those pro, acts which will have an environmental irpact on a county level.
The Town of Gardiner falls within Ulster County. GarSiner's Environrental Conservation Corrission and the Board of Supervisors were informed of the choice of Gardiner as a potencial sight fr> r two nuclear power plants or three coal-fired power plants on Monday, March 12, 1979. The impact of either of these power-generating facilities on the environrent of the County is j ustification for our intervention.
The date of notification of the Town of Gardiner fell on the deadline date for request for intervenor status which is why our petition did not meet the deadline, however this particular set of ci rcumstances seems to warren t consideration of this petitien.
