Dr. Charles W. Selbrig Nuclear fuel Services Commonwealth Edison P.O. Box 767 IN RESPONSE REFER Chicago, IL 60690 TO F01A-79-169
Dear lir. Solbrig:
This is in reply to your letter dated April 26, 1979, in which you requested, pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, a copy of the NRC's existing computer code identified as the current version of the Water Reactor Analysis Package (WRAP), the JOSHUA system required to run this corputer package, and the docurentation required to use this package.
Also, you requested that any modifications, which should be rade to WRAP to make it an approved Appendix K, Se identified by the staff.
The Water Reactor Analysis Package (WRAP) is being developed for the NPsC by the Savanroh River Laboratary.
The first version of the NRAP-BWR package has been completed and documentation will be available within a month or two.
The WRAP-BWR package contains the proprietary GE-GEXL correlation and cannot be made available to the public in its present form. The cost for removing GEXL ^
estimated tn be $2500; please inform ts if you will pay this es ud cost.
i The first version of the WRAP-PWR pat Ka should be completed by 10/30/79, with documentation available about 12/30/79.
If you will accept the charges in. Ived, including shipping and handling, we will send you a copy of WRs-PWR at that time.
The JOSHUA system was not developed wi th NRC funds.
However, a copy may be obtained by contacting Dr. M. Buckner of the Savarinah River Laboratory.
With regard to WRAP's licensing conformance, the NRC has not evaluated the modifications needed to make WRAP conform to Appendix K.
The fRC inte-utilize WRAP to perform audit calculations and r.ot necessarily as t ing package.
The NRC has no plans for evaluating WRAP's 4!2 pp3

deficiencies for ccmplying with Appendix K.
Since the package incorporates many user options, it is the responsibility of the user to justify and verify the models as required.
Thus, if Commonwealth Edison intends to utilize the WRAP package for licensing submittals, Commonwealth Edison would have the responsibility to provide appropriate justification for its conformance to Appendix K.
Sincerely,
//
