SYSTE"ATIC EVALUATICH PROGF#1 BATTERY CAPACITY TESTS LACROSSE DOCKET NO: 50-409 Tepic VII!-3.A Station Battery Test Recuirements The objective of this review is to assure that the onsite Class IE battery capacity to supply all safety related I C Icads is verified by periodic testing.
The testing should be in accordance with IEEE Standard 450-1975, IEEE Standard 303-1974 ETP EICSS 6 ard the " Standard Technical Specifications for General Electric Soiling Water Reacters" (NUREG-0123).
The required tests are as follows:
1.
At least once per 18 months, during shutdown, a tattery service test should be performed to verify that the batte y capacity is acequate to supply and maintain in operable status all of the actual emergency loads for 2 hours2.314815e-5 days
5.555556e-4 hours
3.306878e-6 weeks
7.61e-7 months
.
2.
At least once per 60 mcnths, during shutdown, a cattery discharge test should be performed to verify that the battery capacity is at least ca; of the manufacturer's rating.
The technical specifications for the LaCross> Nuclear Station include in Section 5.2.11.2.3.2 the above periodic batt.cy service and discharge tests.
Further, the battery service test is performed to verify that the battery caoacity is acequate to suoply and maintain in aceraole status all cf the actual emergency loads for 7 hours8.101852e-5 days
0.00194 hours
1.157407e-5 weeks
2.6635e-6 months
, rather than 2 hours2.314815e-5 days
5.555556e-4 hours
3.306878e-6 weeks
7.61e-7 months
as required by the current staff criteria discEssed above. Therefore, the Lacrosse Nuclear
' tation complies with current licensing requirements for station battery cloacity tests. No additional SEP action is necessary.
