Attached to this letter is a list of Requests for Design Changes (RDCs) associated with the modification program described in the Report on Design Modifications for the Trojan Control Eufiding (PCE-1020). These items, and those described in the attachment to my letter dated April 24, 1979, are additions of, or modifications to, piping supports necessary to qualify the piping systems for response spectra developed in accordance with PGE-1020, Appendix B.

The piping systems will remain qualified to the interim operation response spectra. The items on this list will not individually or collectively reduce the shear capacity of any major shear wall by greater than 1 percent. Nor do the items involve weight addi-tions which =ay result in an increase of greater than 1 percent of the calculated lateral forces in any major shear wall.

The Licensee will continue to keep the Board infor=ed of activities at Trojan as described at the March 30, 1979 Prehearing Conference (Tr 3204-05).

Sincerely,

~

ATTACRENT Following is the list of Request for Design Change (RDC) work itens for whi-h field work may be performed within the next few weeks.

The relationship of the work with the Control, Auxiliary and Fuel Building strutures is briefly sumnnrized below:

RDC No, Modification Relationshio 79-028 Job No. 15: Modification A brace will be added to the or an existing strut existing support steel for assembly on component the strut assembly on tne cooling water system 24-in pipe at elevation 50 f t piping, H3D-27-4 (SR 815).

in the Fuel Building. The brace will be attached to the the elevation 61-f t fit,. slab with drilled anchors.79-028 Job Nos. 16 and 17: Modi-Twc existing 12-in pipe fication of two anchots for anchors presently attached component cooling water to the pipe chase wall at piping EBD-30-1 (SA 241) elevation 56 f t in the and HBD-28-1 (SA 243)

Auxiliary Building will be codified to transait the anchor reactions to the elevation 61 ft slab and supporting steel. Through-bolts, drilled anchors and welded beam attachments will be ucilized.79-028 Job No. 18: Modification The existing pair of hanger of an existing restraint on rods will be replaced with a the component cooling pair of struts for the 14-in water system piping, pipe at elevation 67 ft in HBD-31-2 (SR 111).

the Auxiliary Building. The restraint assembly is attached

to floor support structural steel for the elevation 73-ft slab.79-028 Job No. 20: Modification A knee brace with base plate of existing anchor on com-will be added to anchor support ponent cooling water system steel for the 14-in pipe at piping, HBD-31-2 (SA 807) elevation 53 f t in the Auxiliary Building. The brace will be attached to the exterior of the spect fuel pool west wall (shear wall) with four - 5/8-in. dia=eter drilled anchors. 'Jeight added by the modification wil.1 he about 75 lbs. The knee brace loads, anchors, and added weight will have no significant effect on the capacity of the wall to resist the required seismic loads.
