..( y June 27, 1979 OFFICE OF THE CHAIRMAN The Honorable J. Bennett Johnston, Chairman Subcommittee on Energy and Water Development Committee on Appropriations United States Senate Washington, D. C.
20510
Dear Mr. Chaiman:
On April 26, 1979, we forwarded to you our request for certain reprogramming actions.
In our submission we indicated that the Commission was in the process of a review of the impact of the accident at Three-Mile Island Unit 2 and that the results of this review may necessitate additional reprogramming actions in FY 1979.
We have completed this review for FY 1979 and, as a result, additional reprogramming actions are proposed.
The enclosure identifies those actions.
We request your early consideration and approval of the proposed actions.
Si ncerely,
dL%d-
'Weph M. Hendrie Chairman

. 16/ This is primarily due to minor reductions to travel and PDA's portion of the salary and administrative support adjustments.
See foowotes 18 through 20.
17/ Utilization of rcmainng balance of FY 1978 unobligated funds carried over.
18/ This reduction is made available froai the proposed pay raise supplemental (S4,300,000) by experiencing a lower than projected hiring rate during the first seven months of FY 1979.
This is due in part to the hiring freeze.
These funds will be used to fund TMI related activities.
This reduction has been allocated to all programs.
19/ This increase is for TMI related activities such as; increased support for the Emergency Response Center and investigatory groups, increased utilities, ADP timesharing costs and telecommunications.
This increase has been allocatea to all programs.
20/ This increase is a net amount' consisting of increases to 11RR and IE totaling $550,000 for TMI related activities, offset by reductions to other offices totaling $243,000.
