Dear Mr. Lark:

This is to ccnfirm our conversation of May 22, 1979 with respect to your letter of May 3,1979 in which you requested infomation on the status of the pro-posed amendment to Materials License No. SNM-1773 issued to Duke Power Company.

As you know, by the proposed amendment, Dche Power Company seeks authorization from the Nuclear Regulatory Commissi'a ts transport and store 300 Oconee spent

nuclear fuel assemblies at the McGuve nuclear facility located in Meckler. burg County, North Carolina.

As we discussed, the hearings on the proposed amendment are scheduled for June 19-29, 1979 at the Mecklenburg County Administration Building, 720 Eest Fourth Street, Charlotte, North Carolina, and the State of South Carolinn has been admitted to participate as an interested State pursuant to 10 ',FR 52.715(c) of the Ccmmission's Rules of Practice.
