SUBJECT:

HYDROLOGIC CRITERI A FOR PROPOSED INTERIM SOLID WAS T I S TO RAG E AR EA The proposed location for interim storage of solid waste generated from the operation of EPICORE 11 is the Unit 2 desilting basin, located in the SE area of the station.

Met-Ed must provide assurance that le maximum expected precipitation during the 1ifetime (about 4 mont,) of the facility will not result in "ponding" which will jeopardize the intbgrity of the facility.

To that end, Met-Ed shall provide an analysis of potential "pi.iding" in the desilting basin due to the maximum expected precipitation and assuming no blockage of the drainage system. Met-Ed shall also consider acministrat ive controls such as periodic checks of the drainage system and provisions for backup pumping to minimize the potential for "ponding" during the expected 4 month life of the storage facility.
