DAILY NGEST FOR TUESDAY, MAY 22, 1979 1.

IE has issued advice to field oa surveillance procedures for AFW (copy enclosed); we should consider in our ongoing work both on B&W as well as the generic W CE efforts.

2.

We need to publish the bulletin evaluations en B&W plants shortly after each order is lifted. Thus, Oconee should go out this week.

3.

A mass meeting of 19 W utilities is set for Wednesday, May 30; Schwencer is to arrange for the P-110/P-ll4 complex.

P. O'Reilly is to be responsible for minutes. The purpose is to discuss how we are going to interact with them collectively with respect to cleaning up bulletin items plus the long-tenn aspects that are expected to grow out of generic reports.

Immediate action:

M. Williams et al prepare presentatior.3 on bulletin responses.

A. Thadani et al do same on generic report.

4.

Briefings for foreign government is precaeding.

5.

The TMI-2 Implications Subcommittee meets May 31, June 1.

Some info is in memo by L. Crocker (enclosed). Detailed agenda to follow shortly.

Preparation to start ASAP.

6.

DPC has sent in info on motor-driven AFW pumps. Fairt41e should distribute ASAP. DPC wants to see if we can approve installation for Unit 3 prior to startup (June 9).

7.

Letters to W, CE utilities on AFW, SF, should have gone out by now.

8.

Need recommendation from bulletin tt:am on manual trip actions of 05B.

9.

Bulletin group is to obtain procedures for those utilities that have manual AFW, and then prepare a written recommendation on whether tPe extra operator is a safety plus, minus, or neutral.

10. Davis Besse team will be here Thursday-Friday, May 24, 25.
