KING OF PRUSSIA, PENN3(LVANIA 19406 Docket Nos. 50-289 50-320 J8508 M Metropolitan Edison Company ATTN:

Mr. J. G. Herbein Vice President - Generation P. O. Box 542 Reading, Pennsylvania 19640

Dear Mr. Herbein:

Since the occurrence of the incident at Three Mile Island Nuclear Station, Unit 2 (TMI-2), we have discontinued sending IE Bulletins to Metropolitan Edison (Met Ed) for action. We have recognized that all available Met Ed resources have been diverted to the situation at TMI-2 during this time period. Subsequent to March 30, 1979 and Bulletin 79-04, no Bulletins have been sent to either TMI docket except for information.

As noted in your letter of April 10, 1979 summarizing a meeting held on that date at the TMI Observation Cente.r, Met Ed. committed to addressing all IE Bulletins applicable to TMI-2 that were issued follcwing March 28, 1979 prior to returning to operation. Although not specifically stated at that time, we have assumed that a similar situation applies to TMI-1.

For your information, the Bulletins issued for action since March 28, 1979 that are applicable to TMI-l and TMI-2 are as follows:

Metropolitan Edison Company We will continue to send IE Bulletins that would normally require action at TMI to Met Ed only for information until it is indicated that Met Ed is prepared to handle them in the normal manner.
