Section 2.6 February 1979 ENVIRONMENTAL STANDARD REVIEW PLAN FOR ES SECTION 2.6 GE0 LOGY REVIEW INPUTS None REVIEW OUTPUTS Environmental Statement Sections 2.6 Geology Other Environmental Reviews None I.

PURPOSE AND SCOPE The purpose of this environmental standard review plan (ESRP) is to direct the use (by reference) of the staff's Safety Evaluation Report (SER) or Site Safety Evaluation Report (SSER) for all descriptions of site and vicinity geology.

Reference to these documents will be made in the environmental

-;tatement, and nc description of site and vicinity geology will be t-equired.

II.

REQUIRED DATA AND INFORMATION None required.

III.

AR LYSIS PROCEDURE The potential for geological environmental impacts (e.g., subsidence from cooling ponu loading) is small, and the staff's experience has been that actual occurrence of such impacts is infrequent.

Further, any such potential woula be established and evaluated during the staff's safety evaluation and described in the staff's SER or SSER.

On this basis, no environmental review g 9 7 0 90G' 0

February 1979 of geology is required, and the reviewer's analysis will consist of the follow-ing two steps:

A.

The reviewer will consult with the staff's safety evaluation reviewers to determine if there is any potential for geological environmental impact.

B.

When any such impacts can be predicted, the reviewer will notify the reviewers for ES Sections 4.1 and 5.1 to develop, in consultation with the safety reviewers, an analysis and evaluation of the potential impacts.

IV.

EVALUATION None required.

V.

INPUT TO THE ENVIRONMENTAL STATEMENT The reviewer will provide the following statement for inclusion in ES Section 2.6:

The staff's description of site and vicinity geological features and the detailed analyses and evaluations of geologi-cal, seismological, and geotechnical data as required for an assessment of (1) site suitability for a plant of the general size and type proposed or (2) site-safety issues related to the specific proposed plant, are or will be included in the staff's Site Safety Evaluation Report and/or Safety Evaluation Report.

In addition, when any potential for geological environmental impact has been determined, the input will note that this determination has been made and will identify the appropriate ES Section (4.1 or 5.1) continuing an analysis and evaluation of the predicted impact.
