On Jime 19, 1971 the A C adented interis accantance criteria fur the performance of e urmancy core cocling syste s (20C5) in li@t-vater nuclear power plants. A ceny of the Co insion*c interin policy s ta ta-mnt on this nattar is enciesed for your infor:ation. In accordance vith Section IV.3. of the interim policy s tater ent, before we c:n cocolete our evaluation of the ECCS for the Three uile Island ::uclear Station Unit :To. 2 we need information to shev that the sys tem mets de yncral criteria of Section 17.A. using a suitabic evaluation ~:odel.
'le cro centinuing discussions with representatives of the Sabcock & Wilcox Cotnany (3rJ) that are directed tevard establishin;: a suitahic evaluation codel using 35U cocputer codes for evaluation of olants incor-orating a nucicar s ecas supply sys tem designed by 367.
'"Se information that we need regarc'ing these analyses in:
(1)
For the break si:e ran:e. loe rien and type runtioned in Anrendix A, Part 1, of the interin policy a este ent, provide information per-taining to (a) the sys tas pressure, (b) the hot-snot clad tem era-ture, local mass velocity, fluid temperature, and heat trans fe r coef fi cient, (c) the core pressure drop, quality, and nass velocity, (d) the heat flux distribution in tha hot channel, (c) the flev rates in the upper and lover plenu=c, (O the flow rates in the broken and intact cold-leg and hot-lag pipin:;, (g) the flow rata out of the break, and (h) percent elad ental-vator reaction.
(2) Provide a detailed discussion of the calculation used to predict heat transfer during the reflood portion cf the transient.
(3)
Discuss in detail any deviations in the evaluation model used in the foro;ning studies from that described in An endix A, Part 1 of the interim oolicy stateacnt, if that model is used.
