We have recently sent the enclosed letter to Sabcock k Wilcox Coopany regarding the potential for excessive control rod guide tube wear at facilities using the S&W design. This infomation is required to assess the significance of control rod guide tube wear at your ficility.
We rcouested the required infomation from the vendor, in order to provide us with an overall assessment of this proolea and to c:inic:ize the acount of utility,. vendor and NRC staff work required. However,
, should this approach to cotain the necessary infomation not be successful, a direct response to the enclosed questions, frcr] each licensee utilizing tr,e B&W design, will be required.
