SUMMARY

OF MEETING CN TMI-2 Representatives of the applicant and his contractors met with memoers of l

tne staff on Septembe.r 13, 1976 to discuss the items identified below.

Sumo Test The applicant described the setup and preliminary checkout of the containment Sump model test. These tests indicated tha.t entrance loss calculaticns appear conservative, that initial screr, r.cesigns appear to recuire further modifications to avoid local eddying, and that the sumo room design may recuire some modification to reduce water pre-rotation tendencies.

Aopropriate changes are being considered. Tentative plans were made for staff witnessing of tests around the end of September.

Steam line Break The applicant presented the preliminary results of his aam line break analysis in response to staff recuests, and discussed c nt modificatiens recuired by this analysis. The staff raised scme cuestions chien wiil be addressed in the formal submittal scheduled for the end of September.

The relationship of modifications reouired by the steam line break anaiysis to the previously submitted feed line break analysis uns discussed. Copies of the preliminary analysis were made available to interested parties at the meeting.

Chemical Addition to Containment Scrav The aoplicant identified system changes and noted that their-new preliminary analysis indicated that the redesigned sys'em ::erfor ed adeouately under ali cenditions. The staff suggested that their sutmittal include justification of the new program by analyzing an older olant with a similar systam and ccmparing tne credicted results with the actual tests previously perfor ed.

In any event, it must be shown that the tolerance on system carameteri permits acceptable thiosulohate concentrat on and pH in all casas.
