DESCRIPTION CF REQUEST:
During a recent inspection at the Three Mile Island, Unit 2 facilitf
(June 16-17, 25-26, 1975, Inspection Report 50-320/75-06, dated July 17,
1975), the inspector noted several deviations related to activities
surrounding the construction of the grouted post-censioning system
for the conta b ent structure. The enclosed letter, dated August 21,
1975, from the Licensee respcuds to these deviations which are restated
in su= mary form. We have reviewed the three deviations and believe
that Deviation B may require some further action. The second. enclosure
provides our assessment of the daviation based on available facts. We
have recommanded to Region I that this item rammin open wtil Licensing-
has also had time to review the matter.
The deviation relate's to the absence of any controla on the total a=ounts
of chlorides and nitrates contained in the cement grout, arising fron
either the mixing water or the dry grout =1sture.
In addition to the
infornation contaimi in the enclosures, it has been noted that the
Licenses in Amananant 31, dated 8/15/75, has withdrawn Appendix E from
the Fc G.
That section was titled, "Tenden Grouting Procedures."
REGJESTED ACTION:
1.
Please review and evaluate this apparent deviation * in order to
determine if the matter warrants further action.
