D. Thornburg, R. T. Carlson fuentifiec three responses the Region nad received frca the Metropolitan Edison Company on ceviations at tne Three Nile Islanc, Unit 2 facility.
Tne responses, in answcr to tne three deviations which were identifiec at tne site, related to tne control of cement grout being used to encase tne prestressed tendons of tne containment stmeture.
Two of the three deviations have been resolved. The tnf rd deviation, Ceviation 6, related to the cncaical content of the grout and tne tests for cnicrides and nitrates, was sent to the Division of Technical Review, fiRR, by a Tecnnical Assistance Request to obtain their technical position. The reply to tnat request is enclosed.
The recomendation is that a letter be sent to the Licensee indicating that tne tests are to be perfomed. The Licensee referenced tne AStiE Boiler and Pressure Yessel Coce,Section III, Division 2. Section CC-2243.3 in the FSAR at Section 3.5.1.2, page 3.S-2.
That code cocu-uent defines the acceptable limits for chlorides and nitrates. For tencons alreadj grouted there snould ce tests performed for cnlorides and nitrates en samples of grout constituted from tne same materials and by tne same procecures as used in tne original grout. For tnase tencons not yet groutec tne gmut to be placed should be sucjected to testing to assure confor ance to the ASME Code.
Also enclosed is a copy of a letter dated October 6,1975 to R. T.
