This addendu: is part of ARL Repor: Sc. eo-77/M20 FF, February 1977.

I a:P ifies and clarifies several itens in : hat reper: as well as correcting l

an error. The additional material is given by section below.

I:iTRODUCTIO:s The water levels, 236.0 ft and 289.0 ft, were assumed for test purposes.

Actual expected levels are given in the FSAR*.

RESULTS A'iD DISCL'SSIC:4 Loss Coefficients The abscissa of Figure 12 was incorrec:ly labeled.

The Reynolds number range was, in fact, frc: 0.3 x 10> :o 1.2 x 10>

These data were acquired for Scheme 2 fer both discharge lines withcut :he 7crtineter in place in order to cepare the lines with regard :: loss.

Scre da:a pertained to the con-dition of both lines operating simultaneously while other data were for :ha lines operating indivifuall;,

The ficw rate was varied in order to vary Reynolds numbers.

(L

re" sed Figure

'.2 is attached.

The abscissa has been corrected and the data separa:ed.

It can be seen that, as bef ore, the loss coefficient for

  • .1, is higher than for line 2, K2.

4ith the lines operating

_:ne 1, Individually, il is about 25% higher than K2 at R = 0.3 x 10 with the dif f erence decreasing with increasing R, falling to 6% at R = 1.2 x 10'.

F;r both lines operating together, the difference is about 300 at the 1:wer R value falling to about 95 at the higher value. The difference ir less coefficients, thus decreases with R whether the lines are 2pera:ing

.ndividually or toge:her.

For Schene 12, a test was performed with :he upper 50% of :he screen flow area blocked, resulting in a loss coefficient for R = 1.9 x 10' of K2 = 0.53.

This is 2.11 higher than the curve of Figure 13 at the Reynolds nu ber or an increase of about 15%.

Since the prototype velocity head is about 1.05 ft, this represents an increase of 0.16 f: in head loss. The da:a points on 3

Figure 13 are all at ?

1, except those at R = 0.74 and 0.76 x 10, for

=

.hich F = 0.

, and : hat at R = 3.2 x 10', for which F 1.5.
