SUBJECT:
REQUEST FOR DRAWIiiGS AND INFORMATION OF MARK II CONCRETE CONTAINMENTS Under contract with NRC, the Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) is providing technical assistance, to the Structural Engineering Branch of load and response combination of Mark II and III containment structures.
This study by BNL is basically in the same areas of interest as those of an earlier BNL study performed for piping of the Mark II containment system.
The prestressed concrete containment of La Salle County Station has been tentatively selected for the study. We are, therefore, requesting through your group the following information:
a) A set of full size structural drawings.of the containment vessel for La Salle plant, with details of reinforcing and prestressing steel.
b) As built properties of the containment vessel which should include the strength of concrete, prestressing and reinforcing steels and their modulus of elasticity, poissons ratio of concrete and other material properties which are needed in the analysis of structures, specifically for oynamic loads, c) Mathemat;J models used in the dynamic analysis of the La Salle containment structure together with the physical properties of such models so that on the basis of such information, a dynamic analysis can be made.
