Docket No.70-364 DEC 2 81979 APPLICANT: Babcock and Wilcox Company Nuclear Materials Division FACILITY:

Parks Township, Pennsylvania

SUBJECT:

SAFETY EVALUATION REPORT - BABC0CK AND WILCOX REQUEST FOR RELIEF FROM LICENSE CONDITIONS 12 AND 37 TO LICENSE NUMBER SNM-414 Discussion:

License Conditions 12 and 37 for License Number SN!1-414 commit B&W to modify by December 31, 1979 certain plant instrumentation and ventilation systems in accordance with their responses to our letter dated March 24, 1977 identifying areas of concern.

In a letter dated December 10,1979 B&W requested extension of the December 31, 1979 completion date for the modi-fications to a date at the end of March,1980. B&W has stated that the delivery of certain components and materials has caused the delay. I have confirmed.this with W. Kushner, I&E resident inspector at the B&W Pennsylvania Operations. This change will not affect the conclusions result., in renewal of the license, and this action is considered an administrative amendment.
