V. C. Summer Nuclear Station Unit 1 South Carolina Electric 2 Gas Ccapan't Service 'Jater Intake Tunnel Settlement Gentlemen:
During my af filiation with Gilbert Associates Inc., Reading, Penns:*1vania, I was involved on the above referenced project and was assigned as a reviewer for the structural integrity evaluation of the tunnel. Partial check of the calculations of tunnel stresses was made by me.
Due to change of my affiliation with the company, the verification of the calculaticas could not be completed.
However, based on my findings, I sent my comments and recctmen-dations to the responsible engineer at Gilbert Associates.
As the tunnel damage due to settlement and subsequent repair was an important engineering experience of learning about structural failures, I am interested to read the final report en tunnel settlement and repair submitted to your office by Gilbert Associates, Inc.
I request you therefore to send me a copy of the report as soon as possible.
