Subject:
Arkansas Nuclear One-Unit 2 Docket No. 50-368 License No. NPF-6 Technical Specification Change Request (File:
2-1511.1)
Gentlemen:
Attached for your review is a proposed change to the Arkansas Nuclear One-Unit 2 (AN0-2) Technical Specifications concerning inadvertent actuation of containment spray.
The AN0-2 FSAR Section 6.2.1.3.6 states that there will be a Technical Specifica-tion limiting initial containment pressure, temperature, and relative humidity such that the maximum differential pressure across the containment would be 5.0 psi in the event of an inadvertent containment spray actuation.
The existing Technical Specification Figure 3.6-1 does not consider inadvertent containment spray actuation.
Therefore to complete our committment the attached proposed Technical Specification Change Request incorporates the inadvertent containment spray actuation concerns into permissible initial containment conditions.
We regret this issue was overlooked in initial development of the AN0-2 Technical Specifications.
However, ANO-2 has not operated outside the bounds of the attached figure since beginning of operation.
This revised figure is being incorporated into our procedures in the interim awaiting your approval of this request.
Pursuant to the requirements of 10CFR 170.22, we have determined this request to involve a single safety issue and, therefore, a Class III amendment requiring a
$4000 remittance.
Accordingly, a check for that amount is enclosed.
Very truly yours, b
