NRC ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA FOR THE MARK I CONTAINMENT LONG TER!i PROGRAM Enclosed, for the information of the Committee, are 20 copies of the "NRC Acceptance Criteria for the Ma -: I Containment Long Tenn Progran." These criteria describe the generic.nethodology acceptable to the staff that will be used to perform plant-unique analyses of the suppression chamber response to suppression pool hydrodynamic loads.
On September 14, 1979, we met with the ACRS Fluid Dynamics Subcommittee to discuss the bases for the criteria and the industry's major objections to the criteria. We plan to meet with the Subcommittee again on November 16, 1979 to provide an ongoing discussion of our progress on the resolution of this issue.
These criteria have been transmitted to the affected licensees to expedite the implementation of this program.
The staff's Safety Evaluation Report describing the detailed bases for the criteria is scheduled to be issued in December 1979.
