MOTION FOR CONTINUANCE Applicant, COMMONWEALTH EDISON COMPANY, hereby requests additional time to respond to the Board's order concerning intergranular stress corrosion cracking.

This further continuance is required because we have been unable to perform the test for sensitization of the stainless steel in the proposed racks due to the fact that the person who was to perform the test was unexpectedly called away to Germany.

We anticipate his return early next week r.nd that the test can be performed and affidavits submitted within the next two weeks.

However, because we have been over-optimistic in the past we request that the Board grant up to four weeks to submit our response.

Of course, we will try to submit our response sooner if possible.

Applicant is informed by counsel for the NRC Staff and the State of Illinois that they have no objection to a further continuance provided that they are allowed the same amount of time (two weeks and forr weeks, respectively) to respond following the date of submission of Applicant's l

200 79111400 h

affidavits as provided in the Board's original orde.

Applicant sincerely regrets any inconvenience this further delay may cause the Board or the other parties.

Respectfully submitted, r
