20555 In the Matter of CONSUMERS POWER COMPANY (Midland Plant, Units 1 and 2)
Docket Nos. 50-329 and 50-330 (0perating Licenses Proceeding)
Gentlemen:
On August 2,1979, you issued a Memorandum and 0 der directing the NRC Staff to report its current estimate for issuance of its Draft Environmental Impact Statement and to comment on the feasibility and desirability of hearing the diesel generator building issue in advance of other safety issues.
The NRC Staff filed a response on September 4,1979 setting forth some of the considerations relevant to scheduling matters.
New information has now been developed which may further impact your scheduling considerations. On September 18 and 19,1979, the NRC Staff Caseload Forecast Panel visited the site for the Midland olant. As a result, the Panel has revised its estimak for the projected completion of Unit 2 (the first unit scheduled for completion). The revised estimate of June, 1982 represents a seven-month slip from the previous estimate of June,1981.
A copy of the Staff memorandum documenting this change is attached.
Sincerely, William J. O stead Counsel for NRC Staff
