ne Atomic Energy Commission has submitted to the Office of the Federal Register for filing and publication a notice relating to the consideration of issuance of a facility operating license which would authorize the Metropolitan Edison Company, Jersey Central Power & Light Company, and Pennsylvania Electric Company, as co-licensees, to possess, use, and operate the Bree Mile Island Nuclear Station Unit 1 pressurized water type nuclear power reactor on the applicants' site located in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.

As stated in the notice, reactor operation will be authorized at steady state power levels not to exceed 2535 megawatts (thermal) in accordance with the provisions of the license and the Technical Specifications appended thereto, upon the submission of a favorable safety evaluation of the application by the Comission's Directorate of Licensing, the completion of the environmental review required by the Comission's regulations in 10 CFR Part 50, Appendix D and a finding by the Cornission that the application for the facility license (as amended) complies with the requirentents of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended, and the Comission's regulations in 10 CPR Chapter 1.

I am enclosing a copy of the Federal Register notice. The Comission's draft Detailed Statement of environmental considerations, the report of I

the Advisory Comittee on Reactor Safeguards, the Comissien's final Detailed Statement of environmental considerations, the safety evaluation, and the proposed facility operating license, with appended Technical Specifications will be sent to you as soon as thsy are availabic.
