SUMMARY
The unit operated at essentially 100% power for the entire =cnth except for the two brief unplanned forced reductions of November ik,1977 and November 17, 1977.
Monthly inspections of the Decay Heat Removal Pump shafts continue. In addition, the recirculation orifice on both Decay Heat Removal Pumps was removed in order to increase the minimum recirculation flow.
The unit tripped frc= 100% power at 0757 cn Nove=ber lh ,1977, due to a =cdule failure within the Integrated Centrol System (ICS) . The actual generated =egawatt signal feedback to the ICS failed icv causing the ICS to increase reactor power, steam, and feed ficv to correct for the seemingly large error between the =egavatt demand and actual generated negawatts. The Reacter protection System tripped the reactor approximately one minute after the ICS module failure. The =cdule was repaired and the unit was brcught back en line by 1620 hours0.0188 days
0.45 hours
0.00268 weeks
6.1641e-4 months
, November ik, and the unit attained full pcver by 2320 hcurs , November 15, 1977 While operating at 100% pcVer, the unit experienced an ICS "unback to 55% pcVer due to an erroneous Group One "in-limit" indication. The runback cecurred at Ihl3 hours on November 17, 1977. The errenecus Group One in-limit indication cleared by itself and the unit returned to full pcver by lhh8 hours , November 17, 1977.
Subsequent trouble shooting revealed excessive =cisture on the affected control rod position cable trays due to a leaking roof.
MAJCR SATETY RElATED MAIRE'IA' ICE Decay Heat pu=ps "A" and "3" were inspected during this =cnth for possible shaft defects. The following work / inspection was performed en each pump:
- 1. IED readings were taken
- 2. Pump to motor coupling removed
- 3. Ultrasonic test of pump shaft
- k. Analysis of UT results 5 Ccupling of pu=p to =cter
- 6. Testing of pump and declaring purp operable 7 Return pump to service Each pump was taken cut of service separately to perform the above verk. Results of UT and IRD readings were satisfactory for both purps. All work performed on each pump was cc=pleted within the time limits se+ forth in the technical specificaticns.
DR-P-1A end bell was replaced after discovering a slight crack in the end bell. Work included:
- 1. Testing of redundant cc=pcr.ent
- 2. Disassembly of purp to =ctor coupling 3 Disassembly of notcr end tell
- h. Replacement of end bell 5 IRD readings
- 6. Testing of pump and declaring pump operable 7 Returning pump to service Work was cc=pleted within time specifications set ferth in technical specificaticns.
Test results were satisfactory.
