Dear Mr. Whitmer:
This letter confirms the Cormission's verbal authorization (telephcne call by D. Verrelli to W. Widner, September 9,1979) to amend the Technical Specifications for Edwin I. Hatch Unit No. 1 as indicated in the enclosure.
The amendment revises e e surveillance requirements for the Residual Heat Removal Service Water System by changing the minimum system head from 938 to 847 feet of water. This authorization was in response to your telecopied request dated September 9,1979.
A formal amendment package including our Safety Evaluation and Notice will be forwarded to you in the near future.
