FROSTBURG STATE COLLEGE FROSTBURG. M ARYLAND 21532 July 25, 1979 DEPARTMENT OF DiCLOGY (301) 689-4166 Dr. Joseph M. Hendrie, Chairman Nuclear 'tegulatory Commission Washington, D. C. 20555 3 car Dr. Hendrie:

I am a Commissioner of the Maryland Water Resources Advisory Commission in Annapolis in addition to my duties here. In late August we are having a meeting which I have requested to discuss some of the potential environmental problems of the nuclear power plant at Calvert Cliffs.

While I have had a course in Radiation Biology from s Dr. George Beddle in California and another from Oak Ridge Associated Universities, I would like to know if you have any '

information on deleterious effects of racloisotopes (there are over 30) in salt water on such invertebrates as oysters, blue crabs, soft shell clams and other members of the food webs in such ecosystems as our Chesapeake Bay.

In addition, if you can give me any information on atmospheric pollution (potential or real) possibilities of this plant it would be appreciated.

Sincerely, 0.' s' I).57j h . n.:4_'ft,'
