Application Amendment S-11, Retenticn of Scrap Material With refemnce to activities authorized under S21-1097, General Electric Ccepany hereby mquests authorization to retain certain scrap materials in excess of the one year period pmscribed by 10 CTR 70.58(i)(2), through Decanber 31, 1979.

General Electric curmntly procures scrap recover'/ services from an offsite vendor. We have recently encountemd difficulties beyond our cmtrol in obtaining scrap recovery services frtm this vendor in a timely manner. Since GE does not have onsite capability for such scrap mcovery, we have been unable to get this material pmcessed for uranium mcovery and we are unlikely to be able to do so much before the end of 1979.

Therefom, we am requesting authorizaticn to retain certain quantities of these scrap materials in excess of the one year period prescribed for such materials by 10 CFR 70.58(i)(2), through Dece ter 31, 1979.

The attachment to this letter contains details as to material quantities and anniversary dates for these containers thmugh the end of 1979.

Pursuant to 10 CER 170.31, enclosed is a Ceneral Electric check for S150 for prccessing the amendment request.

General Electric requests that the attachment to this letter be withheld f mn public disclosure, pursuant to 10 CFR 2.790(d), since it contains infonnatica that identifies General Electric procedures for safeguarding licensed special nuclear material.
