This correspcndence replies to the letter of John L. Wise, Superintendent of Three Mile Island Nuclear Generating Station to the AEC dated October 16, 1972, regarding prcrotion of five Auxiliary Operators assigned to Unit 1 to the position of Shift Foremen for Unit 2.
We have reviewed the resumes you provided and have made the following deterninaticn as to their walifications in comparison witn the guidance provided in ANSI N18.1-1971, "Salection and Training of Nuclear Power Plant Personnel."
Candidates A, B, C, and D are acceptable for Shift Foremen. They should continue their participation in the Unit 1 preoperational test and startup program, and attend the BSW simulator training program as proposed in your letter. The resume sutnitted for Candidate E indicated that he lacks the requisito power plant experience to qualify as a Shift Foreman. We suggest that he complete the training proposed in Mr. Collins' letter to Mr. Wise dated November 14, 1972 and then gain cperating experience as a licensdd operator. At some future data he again could be considered for the position of Shift Foreman.
