Subject:
NRC Approval to sample and evaluate Tc-99 concentrations and to conduct a Tc-99 treatability study)
Date:
Tuesday, July 23, 2019 2:16:00 PM Bill/Jeff, The NRC staff has reviewed your letter dated May 3, 2019 (ADAMS Accession No. ML19126A052) regarding the potential impact of Technetium-99 (Tc-99) on influent, waste, and effluent. The NRC staff approves your proposal to sample and evaluate current gross beta and Tc-99 activity concentrations at the Cimarron site and to conduct a Tc-99 treatability study to assess the ion exchange resin selected for uranium removal to also remove Tc-99 from the influent groundwater.
Please submit a scope of work and proposed budget to NRC and the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality for review and approval.
Please let me know if you have any questions about this email.
Thank You, Ken
