By letter dated April 22, 2019 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession No. ML19112A090), Southern Nuclear Operating Company (SNC) submitted a Core Operating Limits Report (COLR) for Vogtle Electric Generating Plant (VEGP), Unit 2 for Cycle 21, Version 1.

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff has reviewed the VEGP, Unit 2 COLR for Cycle 21 and determined that additional information is needed to complete its detailed technical review.

On June 5, 2019, a clarifying call was held between NRC and SNC to make sure the question was understandable and SNC stated they would respond within 30 days.

Enclosed is the request for additional information.

1. In Section 1.0 of its letter dated April 22, 2019 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession No. ML19112A090), Southern Nuclear Operating Company, Inc. (SNC) submitted a Core Operating Limits Report (COLR) for Vogtle Electric Generating Plant (VEGP), Unit 2 for Cycle 21, Version 1.

SNC states that the licensee COLR for VEGP, Unit 2 Cycle 21 has been prepared in accordance with the requirements of Technical Specification (TS) 5.6.5.

Please indicate which U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC)-approved methods in TS 5.6.5.b were used to analyze the Cycle 21 reload; any NRC-approved methods used to analyze the Cycle 21 reload that are not currently listed in TS 5.6.5.b.; and identify any analytical methods used to analyze the Cycle 21 reload that lack NRC approval via a safety evaluation.
