[External_Sender] Re: Re: Additional Information Request re Jackson Community College termination, NRC Lie. No. SNM-1171, CN610727 Hi Sara:
I don't actually have the paperwork in front of me on the license renewal, but we're on spring break next week, so I should have time to dig that out, get in contact with some possible future destinations for the source, etc.
One issue is that I'll be retiring effective the end of August, and there's no candidate for RSO among the remaining staff, so if I can't get rid of this, I don't know exactly what will happen. I won't be moving away or anything, so I can still deal with any paperwork, etc. if needed, but I will no longer be on the payroll.

RE: Re: Additional Information Request re Jackson Community College termination, NRC Lie. No. SNM-1171, CN610727 Are you withdrawing the request to terminate then, at this time? If you could send a signed and dated letter indicating the same, it is appreciated. Please clarify the status of the source (i.e. currently in storage in Room
- ... ; expect to remove the source within 6 months, etc.; possible disposition options; etc.) in your letter.
Thank you for the update, Sara Forster U.S. NRC From: DeMarco Chris J [1]

SNM-1171, CN610727 Hi Sara:
So, the folks at Cobham RAD Solutions decided they didn't want to deal with the paperwork associated with the source, and shipped it back to us, so it is now back in our possession here at Jackson College.

I received a letter indicating that the license had been renewed, and I am now attempting to find another way to get rid of this thing.

Additional Information Request re Jackson Community College termination, NRC Lie. No. SNM-1171, CN610727
Dear Mr. DeMarco:
We have reviewed your termination request dated December 10, 2018, and have attempted to contact the company - Cobham RAD Solutions - to confirm that the source possessed and authorized under your license had (1) been received by them and (2) been confirmed as not leaking. We have been unable to confirm the disposition of the source, as safely transferred to an entity authorized to receive it.
If you have documentation - in the form of a letter from the licensee's Radiation Safety Officer or designee - confirming that the cobalt-60 source has been received (by Cobham RAD Solutions or other NRC or Agreement State licensee), please provide that documentation as soon as possible. If such documentation is not received by noon this Friday, March 8, 2019, we will be unable to terminate the license as requested.
As requested previously, source receipt documentation should be accompanied by recent leak test results (showing that the source is not leaking) and either the NRC license number or a copy of the Agreement State radioactive materials license showing that the recipient is authorized to receive the source.
Please provide the requested information within 3 days of this message (on or before noon on March 8, 2019). Include a signed and dated cover letter transmitting your response. Submission of your response as a pdf file attached to an email or via facsimile will allow for the quickest processing. Please call or email me with any questions you may have, or if you are unable to respond by the date suggested above. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.
