Dear Sir or Madam:

In accordance with 10 CFR 72.44(d)(3), Certificate,of Compliance No. 72-1029, Amendments O and 1, Technical Specification Section 5.2.3(c), and Certificate of Compliance 72-1040 Amendment 3 Technical Specification 5.1(c), Southern California Edison (SCE) is providing the Annual Radioactive Effluent Release Report for the Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation (ISFSI) at San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS). The period of the report is January 1, 2018 through December 31, 2018.

The AREVA dry shielded canisters and the Holtec HI-STORM UMAX Canister Storage System are both designed to meet the criteria of Interim Staff Guidance-18 and thus prevent

  • effluent releases and do not release any radioactive effluent.

On these bases, SCE is reporting there were no releases of principal radionuclides in liquid or gaseous effluents from the SONGS ISFSI to the environment in 2018.

There are no commitments in this letter.
