NRC IE BULLETIN NO. 78-04 NO. 1 AND 2 UNITS SALEM NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION In resporise to your letter of February 21, 1978, transmitting NRC IE. Bulletin No. 78-04 which was rec~ived on February 24, 1978, we have investigated this matter with respect to applicability to Salem No. 1 and No. Z Units. Tha following is: in response to the conc.erns addressed ili the subject bulletin~

The noted NAMCO D2400X. limit switches were found on a number of*

containment isola:tion. valves (inside containment) for both Units 1 and 2 at Salem.. The control cir.cuitry for these valves utilize the limit switches as a. seal~in f~ature similar to that described
