Mr. Olan D. Parr, Chief Light Water Reactors Branch 3 Division of Project Management AMENDMENT 42 APPLICATION FOR LICENSES SALEM NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION NO. 1 AND 2 UNITS DOCKET NOS. 50-272 AND 50-311 0
In accordance with the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended, and the regulations thereunder, we hereby transmit copies of the Forty-Second Amendment to the Application for Licenses for the construction and operation of the Salem Nuclear Generating Station, No. 1 and 2 Units.
This amendment consists of updated material for the Final Safety Analysis Report, which includes revised radiation protection and operator requalification programs and spent fuel storage facility modifications.
With regard to the spent fuel storage facility modifications, it should be noted that it is our intent to utilize the proposed high density spent fuel storage racks in the No. 2 Unit fuel storage facility for storage of new fuel only, maintaining the center-to-center spacing and limiting the total number of stored fuel assemblies to be consistent with the fuel storage racks previously licensed for the No. 1 Unit until such time as the licensing action currently in progress for No. 1 Unit is completed.
This amendment has been served on Mayor Samuel E. Donelson of Lower Alloways Creek Township in accordance with provisions of the above mentioned regulations *
