By letter dated July 26, 2018 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession No. ML18208A150), Exelon Generation Company, LLC (Exelon, the licensee),
submitted a relief request, RR 14R-22, for the James A. FitzPatrick Nuclear Power Plant in accordance with 10 CFR 50.55a for the NRC staffs review and approval. In its submittal, the licensee requested relief from the examination coverage requirements of Section XI, Rules for Inservice Inspection of Nuclear Power Plant Components, of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (ASME Code), applicable to certain ASME Code Class 1 and 2 component welds.
A draft request for information (RAI) was sent to you on December 4, 2018. A clarification call was held on December 19, 2018.
The final RAI version is attached to this e-mail. It was agreed that Exelon will respond to the attached RAI with a supplement by January 18, 2019.
Please treat this e-mail as transmittal of formal RAIs. If circumstances result in the need to revise the requested response date, please contact me.
