AUDIT OF NRCS LICENSE AMENDMENT REQUEST ACCEPTANCE REVIEW PROCESS (OIG-19-A-05)
Attached is the Office of the Inspector Generals (OIG) audit report titled Audit of NRCs License Amendment Request Acceptance Review Process. The audit objective was to assess NRCs processes for reviewing nuclear power plant License Amendment Requests, with emphasis on preliminary acceptance/rejection procedures and other actions taken to ensure timely, consistent, and well-supported decisions.
OIG found that NRC is using an inefficient and potentially inaccurate process to develop completed acceptance review reports. However, NRC can benefit from a strengthened quality assurance process and enhancement of the Replacement Reactor Program System to generate automated reports.
